Neretina

Neretina is a top-down seamless yoke sweater that is knit in the round. The neckline features a Latvian braid, and is followed by short rows at the back of the neck for a comfortable fit. The yoke has stranded colourwork inspired by Latvian patterns. There is optional waist and hip shaping to add feminine shape, and the wrist cuffs and hem are finished off with echoing elements of the yoke design and Latvian braids.

Suggested Needles

A: 3.5 mm (US 4) circular needles 80cm/32” long AND circular needle, double-pointed needles or preferred method for knitting small circumferences in the round or size to obtain gauge.

B: 4mm (US 6) circular needles 80cm/32” long AND circular needle, double-pointed needles or preferred method for knitting small circumferences in the round or size to obtain gauge.

Adjust the needle size if necessary to get the correct gauge.

Gauge

21 stitches & 28 rows = 10cm/4” in stocking stitch with needle size B, with one colour, and with stranded colourwork, knitted in the round, after blocking.

Please note that gauge can vary between plain stockinette stitch in 1 colour and stranded colorwork. Adjust needle size where necessary so that the correct gauge is achieved throughout the garment.

Ease

Recommended ease: 10cm/4” positive ease.

Choose a size that is 10cm/4” larger than your actual bust circumference.

Neck ease: 2.5cm/1”
