Lapai is a top down seamless raglan cardigan that is knit flat. It features a ribbed neckline worked in a contrast colour, followed by short rows at the back of the neck that create a comfortable fit. There are raglan increases that provide a textured line that echoes the style and angle of the colourwork.

Once the raglan increases are complete, the cardigan is divided into body and arms. The body continues with colourwork that contains fading contrast colours in geometric shapes, and finishes with a deep hem of double ribbing. Optional waist shaping can be achieved by changing needle size. The sleeves are then worked in the main colour and finished off with contrast colour ribbing at the wrist. Stitches are then picked up along the front opening edges of the cardigan and worked in ribbing, with the inclusion of 6 buttons.

Gauge

20 stitches & 26 rows = 10cm /4” in stocking stitch with needle size B, knitted in the round, and flat, after blocking. When working stranded colourwork gauge can vary. If necessary, adjust needle size for stranded colourwork to obtain correct gauge.

Ease

Recommended ease: 8-12cm/3-4.75” positive ease.

Choose a size that is 8-12cm/3-4.75” larger than actual bust circumference.

Neck ease: 2.5cm/1”
